EVIL-TRIUMPHANT!

by

JOHN ROBERTS (2002)

(Meditations upon a familiar theme).

I have recently re-read a Web message of 19 May l999 by Richard K. Moore, who conducted (and quite possibly still conducts) an Internet Newsgroup, at Social-Movements@staffmail.wit.ie Moore is a computer expert and academic: well informed as to current world affairs. He is an American, living in Eire.

In this particular article, Moore explains that the United States’ Government is entirely subverted and controlled by Global Commercial interests, (Trans-National Corporations). US Foreign Policy is, therefore, dictated by the interests of these multi-national Companies. Moore also states that, it is the link between US Economic and Military policy that explains the apparent inconsistencies in US policy towards the nations of the Third World. Thus Iran and Iraq, both originally “friendly” nations, now come within the definition of “Pariah” countries.

The need for the United States to undermine Yugoslav economic independence, resulted in the Bosnian and Serbian Wars, both engineered by CIA spies. In the case of the Kosovo War, the Kosovo Liberation Army was actually created and supplied with weapons and trained by the United States, for the express purpose of disrupting the stability of Serbia. The success of this policy has been phenomenal, with Serbia in ruins and contaminated with Depleted Uranium. Yugoslavia has ceased to exist and Serbia no longer has economic independence from the influence of the USA.

It now is an historical fact, that the revolution in Iran was promoted by the USA, in order to secure its control of that country’s valuable oil reserves: formerly within the sphere of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co. These supplies are now channelled by US Oil Companies.

The sustained suppression of Iraq, combined with the pressure currently being applied by GW Bush and his minions, are all calculated to destroy the capacity of Iraq to process and distribute its oil supplies, ardently coveted by US Oil interests.

We in Australia, a country rich in natural resources, are currently exporting these primary products on a massive scale, in a raw or virtually raw condition. Bauxite, mined at Weipa, Queensland, is converted into aluminium ingots at a plant in Gladstone, from where it is conveniently exported for manufacture overseas. Coal and Iron Ore have been exported (primarily to Japan) for over 40 years: the price usually dictated by the purchasers. Uranium yellowcake, mined in Kakadu National Park (ostensibly a place inviolable and to be preserved) and, technically, owned by Tribal Aborigines, is exported, subject to the proviso that it will be used for “peaceful” purposes only. No regard is paid by Australian authorities, Conservative or Not-so-Conservative to the moral questions raised by such activities. In spite of objections from the Tribal owners, business must be seen to be done and money is made from such ventures. Should this same yellowcake find its way, somehow or other, into a tiny nuclear weapon, which terrorists could, conceivably, return to Australia and explode in one or other of our relatively large and insecure cities, we would have our Uranium returned, with interest. “How wicked!” would be the universal cry, from the fortunate survivors and, indeed, it would be true to affirm that it would be a most unpleasant and damaging proceeding, both physically and economically. Those of us who are in any degree religious, will say “Amen” to the prayers of those who make their behest to Deity, that He will, in His Infinite Goodness, spare us the horrors of such an eventuality. It might be better had some wise person determined that our Uranium Ore should be left where it has remained for so many billion years. But this is being unduly sentimental. We all fervently trust, even if we do not pray, that such an event will never happen.

There has been no emphasis within Australia, in recent years, on the obvious need for this country to maintain and further develop its own secondary manufacturing plant. Apart from a motor vehicle manufacturing industry, there is little large-scale manufacturing capacity within Australia. What manufacturing was carried on here has been progressively reduced. The Newcastle Steelworks has been closed and with the take-over of BHP (Broken-Hill Pty. Ltd) by the UK Billington Group, the future of the remaining Steel Industry is uncertain. Large quantities of finished steel products are annually imported into Australia. The Clothing Industry in Australia has suffered massive closures during the last 20 years, with the shutting down of garment factories and spinning and weaving mills, right across the country. Many smaller but profitable businesses have taken their technical skills and manufacturing plant to countries like Indonesia, Hong Kong, Fiji or China, where the bulk of the clothing imported into Australia is now made. Much machinery has been sold to Fijian clothing manufacturers and exported to that country. These closures are the result of Government policies, in agreeing to the removal of Tariff barriers on imported products, in conformity with the wish of the USA to establish a World-wide Free Trade zone. This will enable the USA to sell its products more readily, while still maintaining subsidies at home for its farming voters.

The present Government of Australia is wholly under the influence of the USA and is anxious to shelter from possible foes under the umbrella of US protection. Thus, it declines to think for itself in matters affecting Australia’s trade and development and is content to permit TNC’s to have free reign in regard to the exploitation of the resources of this country. US interests control the production of oil and natural gas to the stage wherein the average Australian citizen has no say whatever as to the manner in which these resources will be utilized. Hence, we will, once again, see our oil and gas reserves being exported on a massive scale, to further enrich the shareholders of huge US Companies. In the meantime, the Australian consumer is paying through the eyes and nose for petrol and natural gas. Over half the money paid for petrol by the consumer, goes to the Federal Government of Australia, as Tax.

These resources, presently being exported on an enormous scale and for a pittance, should undoubtedly be retained and developed within Australia, which would, ultimately, increase rather than diminish our technical capacity and our wealth as a Nation. The objection to this course would be that there are no quick returns to be gained by such a proceeding and we want the money now. In truth, we do not think about posterity and if we impoverish Australia whilst enriching ourselves, so what? It is this attitude that has led to the destruction of forests and native habitat, since the white-man arrived in Australia and resulted in the extinction of 50% of the original Fauna of this country. If we do not act now to secure what is left of Australia’s vast natural resources: our deposits of iron-ore, bauxite, nickel, copper etc., will be rapidly reduced, such is the modern capacity for the removal of materials in vast quantities. For the sake of a quick “buck”, future generations will be deprived of their birthright. But all our protests are futile, as there is easy money to be made, here and now and the Politicians and Law-makers of Australia just do not care a toss for the notion of “Posterity”. We, like our forefathers, want to be rich ourselves and enjoy the benefits here and now. We cannot begin to think of future generations of Australians. Besides, the way the world is heading, there might not be any “future generations”.

The point of my present argument is that we in Australia are completely subservient to the interests of the United States. Many more intelligent and better informed folk than I, have highlighted the dangerous influence of Multi-National Corporations, who are presently, it may be averred, seeking to take control of world-wide commercial activities. This is no more evident to us today than in the argument relating to the genetic modification of vegetable crops. TNC’s, like Monsanto, a German-based company, are contaminating grain crops all over the world, by releasing genetically modified cereal seeds into the environment. Farmers are protesting but are being pressured into purchasing genetically modified seed grain, which, once used by the Farmer, will ensure his future dependence upon this supplier, requiring him to purchase new seed every year. The GM seed from Monsanto will only germinate once. This is an example of economic totalitarianism.

It is not solely the question of economic dominion that is of concern. US economic interests are inextricably intertwined with US Military policy. One has only to consider the truly appalling history of US aggression, during the past half-century, to awake to the realization that the USA presents a threat to the peace and stability of the whole world. One has only to consider recent evidence of events, in which the USA has utterly disregarded all International Law, in waging War upon innocent and inoffensive nations, to understand the extent of the menace presented by the USA. Reports today,( 5 Nov 02), indicate a further disturbing incident, in which the US has destroyed a vehicle some 150 miles from the coast of Yemen, by directing an unmanned aircraft to release a missile against the car, containing several individuals. This is a further example of the destructive power of the US Military, assisted by those misguided nations, which have promoted its technology by providing sites for surveillance activities. There are several such sites, within Australia itself.

The present economic situation is such that a nation of two-hundred (or so) million people, is in control of the wealth of a world with a total population of something like four or five Billion. The accumulation of this wealth is such that resources which properly belong to everyone on this planet are presently and continuously being diverted by the US Econo-Military Machine, into the development of high tech weaponry, with which the United States will hold the entire World to ransom.

RK Moore makes clear that the inconsistencies and contradictions in US Foreign Policy, apparent for many years, are due to the varying influences of the Corporations controlling the USA internally. Thus an erstwhile “friendly” nation often finds itself transformed into a “foe”, or vice-versa. Richard Nixon’s trip to China was a remarkable about face and Moore rightly points out that the granting of “Favoured Nation Status” to China was “an act of hypocrisy”, having regard to the hostility demonstrated by the United States toward the People’s Republic of China for half a Century. Moore also quotes the case of the Taliban in Afghanistan, who were supplied with “Stinger” Anti-Aircraft Missiles and military advice, during the War with Russia. The Taliban “heroes” were rapidly converted into “madmen”, when it suited the United States.

What we in Australia and all those other Western Peoples, who profit by their association with the USA fail to understand, (being permitted to gather the economic crumbs that fall from the gluttonous table of American graft), is that they are daily contributing towards their own perpetual enslavement by the Gangsters who are running the US machine. America is spending those billions on “Space Research” to enable it to intimidate and control the entire planet. Such a proposition sounds preposterous at first sight, yet it is increasingly evident that US surveillance and “Spy in the Sky” technology is becoming more and more efficient. It is, even now, able to survey for espionage and military purposes, everywhere on earth. In addition, the “Star Wars” research, using Laser technology will, undoubtedly, with massive expenditure of the “World’s” wealth, result in “Death Ray” weapons. These will be used by the US Military, against economic turncoats or those who perceive the USA as a massive threat to the peace of the world.

It is, probably, too late to dissuade the United States Administration from its lunatic policies. Once the US has laser weaponry, it will truly be in an impregnable position and able to “Turn the Screw’ upon any nation on Earth. Quite apart from any advantage to be obtained by the United States from “Death Ray “ technology, it is apparent that, even now, that country possesses overwhelming military capacity. No other country on this globe is in a position to challenge America at the present time and it is now that the USA must consolidate its power to eliminate potential competitors. It has been provided a breathing space by the economic collapse of Russia, which at the moment poses no threat to the USA. China also has been largely neutralized by its present eagerness to participate in the “Western Experience” and, like Russia, does not possess the technical expertise of the USA. However, this may not always be the case. Russia obtained nuclear secrets from America and there seems to be no reason why either China or Russia should not, ultimately, obtain secret US data. There is always someone who will sell his Country’s secrets for a consideration and US Agents are very susceptible to earning a little on the side. There is no doubt, however, that the USA will always try to stay one step ahead.

Thus we are now witnessing increasing belligerence on the part of the United States against Iraq and North Korea. Who will be next?

I have always regarded the people of the USA as friendly, progressive and broad-minded men and women: people who are genuinely concerned for the peace, stability and progress of human civilization. But ordinary US citizens have no say in questions relating to the Public Policies of the Government. These are dictated by economic lobbyists, within the halls of Congress.

That there is a sinister aspect to public life in the United States, is demonstrated by the fact of the periodic violence that one sees now and again. There was the murder in l968 of Dr. Martin Luther King, the involvement of Robert Kennedy in the suspicious death of Marilyn Munro: also sexually involved with his assassinated brother, President John Kennedy. The subsequent murder of Robert Kennedy himself and the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan, President. There have been sundry murders and assassinations since and a recent murder of a US Politician, opposed to an attack upon Iraq. (Oct 02). One begins to doubt the genuineness of the image of US stability.

Of particular concern to the impartial observer, is the fact that there is now no longer in the Western World (and this includes Britain and Australia) a genuine or influential opposition media. The Press Barons, amongst whom one could highlight the activity of Rupert Murdoch, (Aussie turned Yank), for many years have been actively absorbing media outlets, ( be they newspapers, TV Stations or whatever) and, where appropriate, closing them down. The effect of this is to consolidate the power of communication within a very narrow and powerful capitalist clique. This practice eliminates political opposition, as well as throwing workers on the scrap heap. What opposition there is, is confined to one or two small fringe newspapers, which distribute small numbers of news-sheets locally. There is, thus, no way in which the lies and propaganda produced by Western Capitalist and Capitalist orientated Governments (and this includes the UK at the present time) can be effectively refuted. It is only in the work of such devoted and scholarly people as G.W. Moore, that the full extent of the hypocrisy and deceit of these much-applauded Western politicians has been exposed.

What then, can the ordinary man and woman in the street, do about the situation? We can protest as best we can, and seek to make ourselves heard . “We can also boycott all US products wherever we can identify them. This is difficult, as US interests control a high proportion of goods and services in places like Australia. There are the familiar names, such as “Ford, General Motors, Mobil Oil, Texaco, Ampol, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Kelloggs, to name only a few. Many old Australian companies are now owned by American Multinationals. Arnott’s, for example, is owned by Campbell’s and many other food companies, still thought to be Australian by people in this country. Sadly, we have been well and truly sold out to the United States, which owns us, lock, stock and barrel.

The message has to be conveyed to ordinary people of the Western (Non-US) nations, that the measure of control exercised by the USA over the lives of millions of people, world wide, is totally unacceptable. It constitutes a threat to the establishment of justice and equity throughout the whole world.

The United States would have us believe that its influence is paternal and benign: bringing the “Blessings” of progress to benighted nations of the Earth. There may be advantages from access to US markets and technology but this comes at a price - the surrender of our freedom to think and to act for ourselves. It involves a self-imposed slavery to a false, unjust and thoroughly evil system. This system is based on a Mafia style exploitation of the resources of the world, in order to enrich the United States and further consolidate its power over all the nations of the Earth. We cannot resist this assault upon our personal freedom by the use of force or with weapons of any kind. To do so would be to place ourselves in an intolerable moral position. It would provoke violent and overwhelming retribution. This is where “Terrorism” fails. It cannot succeed in bringing about a lasting solution to any problem and only results in unnecessary bloodshed, in which the innocent suffer more than the guilty.

What we can do, here in Australia, is to advise our fatuous politicians, that we do not approve of their slavish attitude towards the USA and its aggressive posturings towards those Near-Eastern nations, whom it presently chooses to categorize as “Pariah” nations and to deal with them accordingly. We can also inform the US media of our displeasure. We can boycott US goods and this latter course, if adopted by a sufficiently large number of folk, must hit Uncle Sam hard, where it hurts – in his pocket. So next time you wish to buy a car – there are plenty of excellent Japanese or Korean cars from which to choose.

The Government of Australia is slowly awakening to the likelihood of one or more Terrorist attacks within Australia itself: a fact which is evident from the increased activity of those members of the Australian Security Force (ASIO). This body is modelled upon those US organizations concerned with the internal security of the USA, notably, the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This body is notorious for its heavy-handed and bumbling approach to questions of security within the United States itself. Witness the WACO debacle, when FBI agents attacked and set fire to the compound containing some 150 or more religious dissidents, resulting in a massive death toll. Our own lads have been watching too many Hollywood movies and, far from disclosing Terrorism within the rampart of Australia, have raided the homes of innocent and law-abiding Australian Muslims, with guns at the ready: in the process terrorising women and children residing therein. Such conduct is calculated to further alienate Australia’s Muslim community. John Howard PM, of course, approves of this approach, as it is in conformity with his myopic and obsessive concept of the dangers of Terrorism to Australia. It is unfortunate that he was not aware of this fact prior to the disastrous attack upon tourists in Bali. Or was he? Mr Howard has already done his best to alienate Australia’s Muslim citizens, by his fatuous and ill-considered support of the major Terrorist in this world at present, namely, George W. Bush.

Howard, trusts that the USA will look after Australia and will see to it that any danger to Australia will be swiftly eliminated. That nation will only do so, just so long as this country is compliant and supportive of its nefarious schemes for total world dominion. In truth, Bush is only concerned for the safety of the North American Continent. He cares not a fig for the antipodes, save to the extent that the security of his extensive network of satellite spy stations is not jeopardised. For many years past, Australia has conveniently given him facilities with which to spy on the rest of mankind.

The threat to the peace and happiness of all humankind is very real at the present time. The USA has shown that it can shadow a vehicle or even an individual from space and direct an unmanned missile to destroy and kill individuals. It thus abrogates, once more, all law and justice, whether domestic or international and reveals its propensity as an assassin. This is more properly the role of Organized Crime, which appears to me to play an important part in the administrative life of the people of the USA. That such thoroughly wicked and depraved individuals are behind G.W. Bush seems evident, from the nature of the utterances issuing from the White house, at the present time.

A pessimist might consider that Evil is, indeed, triumphant in this world. My own optimism demands that I reject any such hypothesis. Ultimately, good must prevail over evil, by its very nature.
